ETWALL EAGLES SWIMMING CLUB
With Captain Briggs not making this trip it was decided after a long debate to promote Mr Vice to Acting Captain for the duration of the event - but not a minute longer than necessary!
It was hoped that this promotion would inspire Garry towards greatness but the pressure seem to tell in the 100 Breaststroke as either nerves or the lack of a wall every 25 metres took its toll. By this stage Clive had already completed the 1500m and secured a silver medal.
Next in was Lisa who was making her first competitive long course start, less turns proved to her liking when she stormed to a fantastic bronze.
Day 2 began with Garry beating Chris in the 50m Breaststroke for the first time - his delight lasted no longer than a few hours before he was comprehensively beaten in the 100m Freestyle, again for the first time (0.4 is comprehensive is it not)??!!
Lisa collected another bronze with an excellent swim in the 50 Breast which was also deemed the 'Etwall Swim of the Meet'.
The 3rd and final day saw Garry produce a quick 50 Free, which would have been quick enough to medal in younger age groups, but sadly not his own. It's a tough world Garry! Team mate Chris wasn't complaining when he edged home with the bronze in a time that would not have medalled in the next 3 age groups! I repeat its a tough world Garry!
Clive completed the meet with a decent 400m Freestyle knocking out consistent splits throughout.
Overall an excellent meet hosted in a great venue with friendly officials.
Chris, Lisa and Clive with GB long course medals...

Wot no medals for Garry!!
Here you go Garry, hold this...
