Over 2 weekends in February, 20 Etwall swimmers competed at the Derbyshire ASA (DASA) County short course championships, at Matlock.  For these championships, swimmers had to achieve qualifying times set by DASA, to compete.

The swimmers swam in 102 races, with all but 18 being personal best (PB) times, what an amazing achievement.  On the shorter distances, 50m and 100m, there were heats as well as finals and again some swimmers went faster in the finals than in their heats, achieving another PB.

We also had 33 top 6 placings, which break down to:

1st: 14

2nd: 5

3rd: 4

4th: 3

5th: 2

6th: 5

In some of their events, we had Adam Banks and Mya Watt becoming Junior Champions, whilst Charlotte Hall became Junior and Senior Champion.

This is an amazing achievement, especially when we had a number of our top swimmers missing as they were preparing for British Championships.

Dean is a proud coach, seeing how much you have improved over the months, so keep up the good work in the pool and in land training (for those that attend that), as you can see the results to come.

Well done to all our swimmers, you were a credit to the Club and your behaviour was impeccable.

Thanks must also go to those who volunteered for the Club over the 2 weekends, sometimes being there for over 10 hours.  Team Managers, Andy Banks, Kerry Hamblen, Jenny Alton and Cathy Hall and also our Officials, Andrew Littler, Graeme Hamblen and Andy Hall.
