Masters Summer Report - Part 2

15 July 2014

North West Masters Championships
Masters swimmer Dave Holland was in blistering form at the recent North West Champs staged in Blackpool. Holland smashed several East Midland and Club records throughout the day. Probably his best swim, which earned him 'swim of the meet' was his excellent PB and record in the 200m Breaststroke.

Another squad member in form was Paul Ingle. Returning to somewhere approaching his best, Ingle produced a number of swims quicker than his Cinderford times recorded only 2 weeks previously.

Brownsea Island Swim
Janet Briggs was back in action with Helen Rollé at the recent Brownsea Island swim. A tough 6.5K sea swim around the island awaited the Etwall pair and the 300 strong field.

Briggs finished 4th in the 50-59yrs non wetsuit category completing the swim in under 2 hours. Rollé completed the swim in just over 1 hour 40 minutes finishing 5th in the 35-39yrs wetsuit category.

Midland Open Water Championships
On the same day as the Brownsea swim, Charlotte Howard and Kelly-Ann Hutchinson represented Etwall at the annual Midland Open Water Championships.  Staged at Bosworth Water the experienced Open Water pair finished strongly to win the 25-29yrs and 19-24yrs age groups respectively.

Both were competing in the 1500m event.
